We used to have a Twitter account for this site, but no longer use it. I am thinking of setting up an alternate account on BlueSky. All thoughts welcome!

David Holmes Cricket Cup, London (2024)

Rupert has again participated in the David Holmes Cricket Cup, helping to raise awareness and donations for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) charities. You can read about earlier appearances in this post.

The wonderful news is that this year’s match was streamed live, and is available to watch on YouTube!

Also, I was delighted to see Rupert and Bradley James (Arthur in Merlin) promoting the live stream on Instagram. Check out Rupert’s video here. (His longer hair is looking mighty fiiine, I have to say! Bradley seems to agree.)

If you would like to contribute to these marvellous causes, check out the GoFundMe page!

“For Everything a Time” novel by Mark McAvaney

Rupert’s friend Mark McAvaney is publishing his debut novel, For Everything a Time, via Ultimo Press in Australia with a release date of 1 May 2024.

Rupert was quick to claim an autographed copy! He also took to Instagram to promote the work and ask his friends to buy a copy. (I duly did, of course.)

You can find all the details of the novel on Goodreads and care of Ultimo Press.

Thanks to Anja for the heads-up!

The New Look (2024)

Rupert appears as journalist Malcolm Muggeridge in What a Difference, the fourth episode of this series. The New Look focusses  on the designers Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, working in Paris during and after the Second World War.

Muggeridge is played as suave and charming – but he has a complex agenda of which Chanel is unaware. Coco Chanel is portrayed by the wonderful Juliette Binoche, so at least it was a real pleasure to see her and Rupert working together!

The episode was directed by Helen Shaver, and released on 21 February 2024.

Premiere of “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived”

Rupert, along with Bradley James (Arthur in Merlin), attended the premiere of David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived on 17 November 2024. This is a documentary made by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe about David Holmes, his stunt-double in the Harry Potter films, who suffered a tragic accident while filming that paralysed him from the neck down.

You can read more about the documentary, and the circumstances in which it was made, in this Variety article.

Rupert has often participated in the annual David Holmes Cricket Cup (more information here) which raises money for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Though, you know… who needs a reason or excuse to invite Rupert to anything?
