Rupert attended this convention along with the lovely Adetomiwa Edun (Sir Elyan, BBC Merlin).

ColdCon2, London (2013)
Rupert was one of the special guests attending this small con, at which Eoin Macken (Gwaine in Merlin) and Tom Hopper (Percival) screened their film Cold. I wrote about the con at some length on the Merlin Locations website here.
I will have some more photos to post, including some of Rupert, but in the meantime here’s a lovely one of our darling man with two rather happy fans!

MCM Comic Con, Manchester (2013)
Rupert attended this convention, along with fellow knights Tom Hopper and Eoin Macken.
Julie’s report
I attended MCM Comic Con in Manchester today. And I’m going to cut right to the chase, because it’s been a very very long day, and the con was madly crowded – but then at least it wasn’t as unbearably hot as I feared it would be, given that Britain seems to be very efficiently packing a full summer into a couple of weeks!
After almost two hours of queuing to get in and then queuing some more for the Knights’ autographs, I finally caught a glimpse of Rupert, and suddenly things seemed a little brighter. Strange how that works, huh? Tom Hopper, Rupert Young and Eoin Macken were all in attendance. They were all their own lovely selves. Tom was first on the table. I asked him how he’d enjoyed Australia, and he replied very enthusiastically. He was looking very fit and tanned, but when I asked he said it was a British tan! Not surprising, really, but a little ironic.
Rupert was next, and again we talked about Australia; he asked me where I’d lived there (Canberra), and said he’d visited Perth before and enjoyed it very much this time as well. Eoin leaned in when the fan before me moved on, and after a beat said to me rather pointedly, ‘I enjoyed Australia, too, you know.’ LOL! I asked him about when he was doing the poetry recordings for the Cold crowdfunding perks, and he said in the next couple of weeks. He remembered that I’d sent him my choice already. They are lovely fellows, though unfortunately both Rupert and Eoin were hiding away under baseball caps and seemed a little quieter than usual – but no doubt they had their reasons!
Well, you’d think I’d be used to all this by now, but I was all a-flutter…
Supanova, Sydney and Perth, Australia (2013)
Rupert attended the Supanova conventions in Australia – in Sydney, 21-23 June and Perth, 28-30 June – along with Tom Hopper, Bradley James and Eoin Macken.
Here’s a video of an interview conducted by Darran Price for AccessReel.com.
Collectormania, Milton Keynes (2013)
Rupert attended the Collectormania convention in Milton Keynes on Saturday 25 May.
Here is a lovely interview with Rupert by Flicks and the City, conducted at the con. (Thanks to Kay for the heads up!)
MCM Expo, Birmingham (2013)
Yesterday I did hie me to the MCM Expo in Birmingham, to see the Merlin Knights: Alexander Vlahos (Mordred), Eoin Macken (Gwaine) and Rupert.
My husband is currently working in Birmingham, so he decided to stay on an extra day. I stayed with him at his hotel on the Friday night, and then he went to work on Saturday while I went to the con. We’d agreed that he would pick me up at about 3pm, after the Merlin Knights panel. All of which is probably of no interest to you, dear Reader, but it does have a bearing on how my day went!
And the day was a very very long one, with hours and hours of queuing, rewarded by fleeting moments of sheer joy. At times I almost lost the will to live. However, I got to chat with my fellow lovely Merlin fans, and it all ended on an unexpected high note, so it’s all good.
autograph queue
I rocked up around 10am, and bought my ‘official photo shoot’ tickets. Then headed to the autograph session to find that the con organisers were already closing the queue, which was huge. The fannish response for our beloved knights was absolutely massive throughout the day, and perhaps surprised everyone. Queues had to be closed; the photo shoots sold out; the seating for the panel was chock-a-block. I’m sure heaps of people missed out one way or another, which is very sad-making. So much for the ‘demise’ of Merlin the show! Obviously the fannish love continues strong.
National Television Awards, London (2013)
A very dapper looking Rupert attended the National Television Awards at the O2 in London on 23 January 2013. The event was broadcast live.
Also there were his Merlin colleagues Colin Morgan – who won Best Drama Performance Male for his role in Merlin – Bradley James, Eoin Macken, Alexander Vlahos, and executive producer Johnny Capps. Unfortunately Merlin didn’t win the Best Drama award.
Rupert tweeted about the experience:
An amazing night at the NTA’s. Shame Merlin didn’t win but they got it right with best actor. Colin is a legend and a worthy winner.

Godolphin and Latymer school fayre, London (2012)
Rupert opened the Christmas fair at the Godolphin and Latymer School, Hammersmith in December 2012. The fair raised more than £30,000 which will be shared between charities and two schools.
The story was covered by local newspapers.
‘Brush Up Your Sondheim!’, London (2012)
Rupert and his Company co-star Cassidy Janson helped run an acting workshop for the Sondheim Society’s summer school titled ‘Brush Up Your Sondheim!‘.
Julie was lucky enough to attend, and has written the following account of her day.
The Stephen Sondheim Society Summer School 2012
The Stephen Sondheim Society ran a two–day summer school in July, which featured talks, panels, master classes, workshops, and a puzzle–based treasure hunt. I attended on the Sunday, partly because – well, to be honest, only because Rupert Young was running one of the acting–and–music workshops. But I had a wonderful day, and based on the buzz about the previous day (in particular, the master classes with Jeremy Sams), I was sorry I hadn’t been able to attend the whole thing.
MCM Expo, Manchester (2012)
Rupert attended this convention with Merlin colleague Tom Hopper (Sir Percival). There was a panel, and an autograph session.
